The world and European champion national wrestler Rıza Kayaalp was given a 4-year ban due to the substance he used to relieve his pain during his training camp.
4 YEAR BAN IMPOSED
According to the statement from the International Testing Agency, the International Court of Arbitration for Sport's Anti-Doping Division imposed a 4-year ban on Rıza Kayaalp, who tested positive for the banned substance "Trimetazidine" in a sample taken on May 28, 2024.
According to the decision, Kayaalp is banned from sports competitions until June 30, 2028, starting from July 1, 2024. It was also decided that all results obtained from May 28, 2024, would be disqualified, and Rıza Kayaalp made a statement to DHA regarding this matter.
"I WILL CONTINUE MY LEGAL FIGHT"
The 36-year-old champion athlete stated that the notification of the penalty has also reached him, and he indicated that he would continue his legal fight, saying:
"I am actually a retired wrestler; someone is trying to interfere. It's not before the match. It’s a medication I used to relieve my pain due to an injury while preparing in the camp. During the treatment process, I consulted the prescription given to me with my sports physician both in writing and verbally, and I started the treatment process with the professional awareness that my sports career has given me. As a result, my participation in sports competitions was temporarily suspended by the officials of the United World Wrestling (UWW). We have started our legal fight for the victimization my clean sports career has been subjected to. There is no unjust success in any of my medals. But I do not understand why they are trying to interfere with me at the end of my sports career." he stated.
The national wrestler received a temporary ban for allegedly using a banned substance and was unable to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
