Kremlin Spokesman Dmitriy Peskov evaluated the current issues in a statement to reporters in the capital Moscow.

"THERE IS A NEED FOR DIALOGUE ON STRATEGIC STABILITY"

Evaluating the statement by U.S. President Donald Trump about wanting to start "nuclear disarmament" talks with Russia and China, Peskov said, "This topic is on our agenda. There is a need for dialogue on arms control between Russia and the U.S., especially regarding strategic stability. This dialogue is important for both bilateral relations and international security."

"EUROPE'S NUCLEAR ARSENAL MUST BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT"

Reminding that some European countries also possess nuclear weapons, Peskov stated, "In consultations with the U.S., we must also take into account the nuclear arsenal that Europe possesses. This issue has become more relevant, especially with (French President Emmanuel) Macron's plans to utilize French nuclear capacity for European security." Peskov also expressed that they would expand dialogue on strategic stability with China.

"WE MAY TAKE MEASURES AGAINST THE MILITARIZATION OF EUROPE"

Evaluating the plans for the militarization of Europe and strengthening the military industry sector, Peskov stated that this is concerning. Peskov said, "The European Union (EU) sees Russia as its biggest enemy. Therefore, we are closely monitoring this process. The militarization of Europe is against Russia. We may have to take necessary measures to ensure our security. The military rhetoric of European countries contradicts the efforts to resolve the Ukraine issue through peaceful means."

"AGREEMENTS IN ISTANBUL COULD BE A STARTING POINT FOR NEGOTIATIONS WITH UKRAINE"

Peskov stated that they are continuing their contacts with the U.S. for the resolution of the Ukraine crisis and mentioned that Russia has not yet appointed a special representative for negotiations regarding Ukraine. Peskov indicated that the agreements reached in Istanbul could be a starting point for negotiations, saying, "Russia has its own interests. We must ensure our security. For this, we are conducting a special military operation in Ukraine. Of course, it is preferred to achieve our goals through political and diplomatic means, but Ukraine is rejecting dialogue."
