In the Çayırova district of Kocaeli, a butcher was banned from operating after being found selling moldy and expired meat, endangering public health, during a joint inspection by the municipal police and the agricultural directorate teams. It was observed that some of the meat had expiration dates from the year 2020 (6 years ago).
The Çayırova Municipality's Zoning Directorate, along with the District Agriculture and Forestry Directorate and the District Police Directorate teams, conducted a joint inspection at a butcher shop in the district upon receiving a tip-off.
THE SHOP WAS SEALED
During the inspections carried out by the teams at the workplace, it was determined that the meats offered for sale on the counter and those stored in the cabinets at the back of the shop were spoiled, some products had started to mold, and their expiration dates had passed. It was observed that some of the meats had expiration dates from the year 2020 (6 years ago). The teams, who prepared a report regarding the business that was found to endanger public health, sealed the shop and terminated its activities.
CONFISCATED
The spoiled and expired products in the business were confiscated by the Çayırova Municipality Climate Change and Zero Waste Directorate teams and taken away for destruction.
"NO COMPROMISE WHATSOEVER"
On the other hand, in a statement made by the Çayırova Municipality regarding the inspection, it was stated, "If the health of our people is at stake, there is zero tolerance. No compromise whatsoever."
