A 41-year-old teacher in Singapore began meeting with a 13-14-year-old female student outside of class at the school where he worked in 2022. The teacher, who taught design and technology, also helped the student with mathematics. The pair frequently exchanged messages on WhatsApp for about five months.
According to court records, the teacher made the student address him as "daddy." He, in turn, referred to the student as "my dear daughter."
SENT A MESSAGE SAYING "I WILL MARRY YOU"
According to the investigation file, the teacher made numerous compliments about the student's physical appearance. One of the deleted messages reportedly stated that he would marry her in the future.
INAPPROPRIATE ACTIONS AT SCHOOL
According to court documents, the teacher engaged in inappropriate behavior toward the student during meetings at the school. In one of these conversations, he also mentioned that he had not had sexual relations with his wife for two years.
HAD MESSAGES DELETED
It emerged that after a warning from the school administration, the teacher asked the student to delete all messages and photos. Additionally, it was discovered that he suggested moving the correspondence to an Instagram chat with a "disappearing messages" feature, which makes it difficult to take screenshots.
TRIED UPON COMPLAINT
The student reported the teacher to the school principal together with another female student after learning that the teacher had engaged in similar behavior with her. The teacher was arrested in 2024 and found guilty of "obscene conduct towards a child" and "sexual grooming," receiving a two-year prison sentence.
