In Batman, the Görege family spoke for the first time regarding the armed clash between the Görege and Direk families, which resulted in the loss of three lives. The Görele family, who claim that the incident was not an 'ambush' as reflected in the media, called on the Direk family to act with common sense.
A new development has occurred in the armed clash between the Görege and Direk families in Batman, which resulted in the loss of three lives.
Members of the Görege family spoke for the first time to Hatice Türkan, the Editor-in-Chief of Batman Sonsöz. The Görele family, who argued that the incident was not an "ambush" as reflected in the media, stated that their son Hasan Hüseyin Görele was killed by the Direk family and that they visit his grave every day.
"LET THERE BE NO MORE LOSS OF LIFE"
The most striking part of Görege's statement was his call to the family with whom they are in a feud. Addressing the opposing side directly, Görege expressed that the events should not lead to more loss of life. Speaking after the attack in which three people lost their lives at the cemetery, Görege drew attention to the fact that continuing the feud would bring new pain and called on both sides to act with common sense.
GÖREGE FAMILY'S "PEACE" CALL TO THE DIREK FAMILY
A member of the Görele family, who recounted that on the day the Direk family also visited the cemetery, they received intelligence that their children's graves would be vandalized, and therefore they also went to the cemetery, claimed that the first bullet was fired by the Direk family.
The Görele family, who argued that the perpetrator who killed their son is already in prison and that they have no intention of taking revenge on anyone, stated that they did not send threatening messages like "don't leave your house" to the Direk family as claimed, and called on the Direk family for "reconciliation."
HOW DID THE INITIAL INCIDENT START?
A family member, who said they did not know how the initial incident started, said the following regarding the killing of his brother:
"Sister, I don't know how the initial incident started; I wasn't there. But they called my brother, they went and killed him. I think five people. We received the news that my brother was lying on the ground for 40 minutes. He remained on the ground for 40 minutes. The distance my brother remained on the ground before the ambulance arrived is 150-200 meters. There is a street. Those who took my brother there, those who intervened between us; they are our murderers. Both for us and for the Direk family. Whoever acted as an informant, they are our murderers.
They did these things a lot. Those who destroyed our homes; may Allah destroy their homes too. May they be punished by Allah. May they not be punished by people, for people are also sinful. May Allah give them their punishment Himself. But we never said anything to anyone for revenge, not one day. We never said 'we will take our revenge.' They can tell the peace envoys they sent to us. Only because it was the first week of the incident, we said, 'just don't show yourselves to us for a while, let things settle down, let our hearts cool, we will come and talk.' Their peace envoys are alive; they can tell them. We didn't want anything else. Just a little time, let our hearts cool a bit, and then there will be peace."
"A SMALL MISTAKE WAS MADE"
When asked if they sent threatening messages to the Direk family after Hasan Hüseyin Görege lost his life, a family member said the following:
"Why would I send a threatening message? Did I go to their house? A small mistake was made; it was a mistake made at that moment. We were already very regretful for it. We also gave our defense. We went to the police station and appeared before the esteemed prosecutor. That's why it happens, mistakes happen at first, but we didn't want it to grow this big. We didn't. They said 'they vandalized our graves.' Are we murderers to vandalize the graves of two children? Have we lost our Muslim faith? Are we Jews? They are the grandchildren of my deceased aunt."
THE FAMILIES ARE RELATIVES
Görege, who said they are relatives of the Direk family, stated that the deceased individuals were cousins of his father and continued as follows:
"We are related. Yes, we are. Why would I go and vandalize the graves of my aunt's grandchildren? Am I that much of a murderer? What have the children in the graves done? As I said, whoever called them, whoever told them 'they vandalized your graves,' whoever dragged them there, they are their murderers."
"WOULD I SEND MY MOTHER TO AN AMBUSH?"
Görege, who said the "ambush" news in the media was not true, said, "They are all false news. Would I send my father to an ambush? Would I send my mother to an ambush? Would I send our pregnant wives to an ambush? Would I take my little sisters to an ambush? Would I send my children aged 2, 4, or 10 to an ambush? What kind of ambush is this? Let them explain to me how it was an ambush. Let our state forces clarify it, and let them clarify it too. Direk family, their pain is our pain, our pain is their pain. Four lives are not few. Four people from two families are not few. We didn't want it to be this way, we didn't. But we were receiving many threatening messages from all around. They were threatening eyewitnesses and telling us about it. We would say 'nothing will happen,' 'people are just gossiping.' I don't believe in something I haven't seen with my own eyes or heard with my own ears. People destroyed our lives and theirs, these gossiping people," he said.
"WHY WOULD I SET AN AMBUSH AT THE CEMETERY?"
Stating that his family visits the grave every day, Görege said, "Every day, between 5 in the morning and 6-6:30 in the evening, also because it's cool, every day. We go to the grave for up to a year. This is every day, every day. I was going too, my whole family was going, relatives were coming. We were going regularly every day. There are camera recordings there, there is MOBESE, there are cameras at my house. We have footage of us going every morning and evening. Whoever wants to see it, let them come and I will prove it. An ambush? What is an ambush, anyway? Why would I set an ambush at the cemetery? They are already out. I was in favor of reconciliation, and the peace envoys know this. They just said, 'What am I going to do to his house, our lives are gone.' A little patience. The murderers are already inside; the state will give their punishment. What more am I going to do to anyone? What is their fault?"
"IF I WERE GOING TO DO SOMETHING, WHY WOULD I WAIT THIS LONG?"
A family member, who said they did not threaten the Direk family but told them, "Let's not come face to face. Stay in your house, but don't appear before us. I mean, I pass by your house on the way to the cemetery, so don't show yourself. This is not something a person can control. I won't go after you," asked, "If I were going to go after you, everyone was looking for us regarding where I would go. Why would I wait this long?"
"THEY FIRED THE FIRST SHOT"
Görege, who stated that they received intelligence on the day of the incident that the graves would be vandalized and therefore went to the cemetery, recounted that one of the deceased from the Direk family moved his hand to his waist, and his father said, "Take your hand off your waist, we didn't come to fight," and claimed that the first fire was opened towards them by the Direk family.
"AM I A CRIMINAL TO LIE IN AMBUSH IN A CEMETERY?"
A member of the Görege family continued their words:
"After that, I wish it hadn't happened. I wish. I say this: if it is an ambush, may my family be destroyed. If it is an ambush, let them come and enlighten me and take my life. Let them call me to any place they want; if I don't go, I am not a man. If they asked for as many men as they want, I would take all the men if necessary; let them take all their lives. If necessary, let the state execute us if this is an ambush. Am I a criminal to lie in ambush in a cemetery? Should I destroy their graves? Right now, they have destroyed my grave. It is they who destroyed it. It is they who make social media posts left and right. I still receive threats from them. The men are attacking left and right, looting my shop. They say, 'We will kill you.' But I say it is normal, it is painful, it is hard. I wish it hadn't happened. Three lives are not few, sister; three lives, my aunt's heart has burned. Right now, I cannot think of my aunt. These are not the ones who committed treason; they are Muslims like me. I ask God to make those who caused this experience this same pain."
