New development in the conspiracy case against Muharrem İnce: The prosecutor has announced the opinion.

The trial of 12 defendants accused of distributing fake receipts organized in the name of former Homeland Party Chairman Muharrem İnce and presidential advisor Maksut Serim, as well as private images allegedly belonging to İnce, continued in Ankara. The prosecutor requested acquittal for some defendants and prison sentences for others, while the hearing was postponed to April 8.

The former chairman of the Old Homeland Party, Muharrem İnce, and the presidential advisor Maksut Serim are being tried in a case regarding social media posts related to a fake receipt and alleged fake sexual content images attributed to İnce. The prosecutor presented their opinion on the main case at the Ankara 35th Criminal Court of First Instance.

DISCUSSION ON PREPAYMENT IN THE CRIME OF INSULT

Public Prosecutor Alperen Alkılınç stated that for the majority of the defendants, the crime of "insult" against İnce is subject to prepayment, and noted that the defendants have made the payment, requesting the dismissal of the actions in question. For the defendant Arkan G., who did not make the prepayment, a prison sentence was requested.

INSULTING THE PRESIDENT AND THE CRIME OF UNLAWFUL DISSEMINATION OF PERSONAL DATA

The prosecutor requested that for some of the defendants, a prison sentence be imposed, deviating from the lower limit for the crime of "insulting the president." Regarding the actions related to the fake receipt, it was requested that the defendants be acquitted of the charge of "forgery of official documents," but be punished for the crime of "unlawful dissemination of personal data."

REQUEST FOR ACQUITTAL IN PRIVACY ALLEGATIONS

In the allegations regarding the privacy of personal life, the prosecutor requested the acquittal of the defendants due to the images and sounds determined not to belong to İnce.

The defendants and their lawyers requested additional time to defend against the opinion on the main case. The court accepted the request and postponed the hearing to April 8.

WHAT CRIMES ARE IN THE INDICTMENT?

In the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is requested that the defendants be sentenced to imprisonment from 4 years to 9 years and 6 months for the crimes of "knowingly using a forged private document," "unlawfully disseminating personal data," and "insulting through verbal, written, or visual communication."
