After a group from the terrorist organization PKK laid down their arms, the delegation from the DEM Party, which visited İmralı for the first time, made a statement regarding the visit. The delegation, which conveyed a message from the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, emphasized in the statement that "it expects the commission work on the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) to provide significant contributions to peace and democracy in a comprehensive and inclusive manner."
"Terror-Free Turkey" process, following a group of 30 members of the terrorist organization PKK burning their weapons, the DEM Party delegation visited Imralı for the first time yesterday. The delegation included DEM Party Van MP Pervin Buldan, Şanlıurfa MP Mithat Sancar, and lawyer Özgür Faik Erol. The meeting lasted approximately three and a half hours.

Recently, we exchanged ideas about the meetings we held as a delegation with the President, the Minister of Justice, and political party leaders. Information was shared regarding the impressions and reflections of the weapon destruction ceremony that took place on July 11. Mr. Öcalan stated that he found the manner of the ceremony, the displayed will, faith, and determination for peace very valuable. He emphasized that he expects the commission work on the agenda of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to make significant contributions to peace and democracy in a comprehensive and inclusive manner. He conveyed his warmest greetings and best wishes to the public and all social segments."
VISIT TO IMRALI AFTER CONTACTS IN ANKARA
After the weapon burning in Suleymaniye, the Imralı delegation had contacts in Ankara. The delegation met with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, followed by meetings with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. After those visits, the three individuals went to Imralı.
THE TRANSFORMATION PROCESS OF THE DEM PARTY
Alongside the Imralı delegation, eyes are also on the transformation process of the DEM Party. In the corridors, there is talk of holding a congress around October-November. In that congress, changes are expected both in the renewal of important cadres of the party and in the party's logo and name.
Additionally, in the party's committees, it was evaluated that "we should also establish contact with the masses we cannot reach." In this context, it is expected that the party will increase its field visits and contacts.
