A new cold air wave is coming from Siberia to Turkey. Rainy weather, which is expected to be effective from Tuesday, is predicted to bring snow to the Marmara region and the Western Black Sea on Wednesday.

The General Directorate of Meteorology announced that today there will be a partly and very cloudy weather across Turkey. Rain and showers are expected in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts, and the Southeastern Anatolia Region, while precipitation will also be seen in the inner parts of Kayseri, Niğde, Bingöl, Iğdır, and Antalya.

SNOW IS EXPECTED IN HIGHER AREAS

In the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea, it is predicted that the precipitation will turn into mixed rain and snow at higher altitudes. Mixed rain and snow are also expected around Sivas, Kars, Ağrı, Ardahan, Muş, Bitlis, and Van.

WARNING FOR ICING, FROST, AND FOG

In the inner and eastern regions, icing and frost may occur in the morning and night hours. Fog and localized mist will be effective in the eastern parts. Authorities warned drivers to be cautious about the reduced visibility.

BE CAREFUL OF AVALANCHE RISK

There is an avalanche risk in the higher parts of the Eastern Black Sea and in the eastern part of Eastern Anatolia. It was noted that the risk of snow melting has increased due to temperature changes, and citizens living in mountainous areas were advised to be cautious.

SIBERIAN COLD IS ON THE WAY

Meteorology Expert Adil Tek stated that temperatures will not rise, indicating that the maximum temperature in Istanbul will be 8 degrees. Tek expressed that the cold air carried by the Siberian High Pressure over Russia will affect the northern regions.

Tek reported that the precipitation starting in Thrace from Tuesday evening will reach Istanbul, and rain is expected in the Marmara region and the Western Black Sea on Wednesday. Emphasizing that Wednesday and Thursday are critical, Tek noted that there is a risk of road closures due to heavy snowfall in Eastern Anatolia.

SNOW EXPECTATIONS IN ISTANBUL

Tek stated that temperatures will not exceed 12-13 degrees, and a gradual warming is expected after March 4. While precipitation will remain limited in the southern Aegean, it was reported that rain will be seen in the form of snow in the Marmara, Central Anatolia, Black Sea, and Eastern Anatolia regions.
