After going missing in Van, the 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş was found lifeless on the lakeshore. Her father, Nizamettin Kabaiş, firmly denied claims that her death was a suicide. Alleging that the university rector interfered with the autopsy and that there were serious security lapses on campus, Kabaiş said, 'They harmed her outside, took her there, and left her. They made it look like a suicide.'

The father of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose lifeless body was found on the lakeshore after she went missing in Van, Nizamettin Kabaiş, answered questions from Melis Yaşar and Olgun Kızıltepe on Haberler.com.

Kabaiş rejected the suicide allegations regarding his daughter's death, saying, 'This is a murder; there are serious negligence issues.' Kabaiş made striking statements on many topics ranging from security vulnerabilities to lack of cameras, suspicious statements to roommate allegations, and claimed that Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Şevli interfered in the autopsy.

Father Kabaiş used the following statements:

“UNIVERSITY RECTOR MEDDLED IN THE AUTOPSY”

'I do not suspect the students at all. But that university rector is very troublesome. I am telling you what I saw. He also interfered in the autopsy. He brought all his relatives, very close relatives, and placed them in jobs there. It is as if the university is not state property, but his private property. Whether it is the security guards or the workers there. He brought his relative and placed them there. The man says, 'I am a gentleman, I will live like a gentleman.' But what did the Minister of Justice say? He said, 'Whoever it is, position or status does not matter. Whoever it is, they will be investigated and will face the punishment.' Hopefully, with God's permission, this case will not remain in the dark. The Minister of Justice made good statements. I send my respect and regards here. I am very pleased.

“THEY TOOK HER, LEFT HER THERE, AND STAGED IT AS A SUICIDE”

'I did not give even 1% chance to suicide. Because I knew. They pressured me, saying, 'We found her by the lakeshore.' I said, 'Let the autopsy be done first.' Before the autopsy was done, I went and saw my daughter. There was no swelling on her body. For 18 days, according to what they said, they say 'we are telling what could have happened.' If you say what could have happened, you should also say what could not have happened. For 18 days, Can Lake is salty. If she had stayed there, all those clothes would have been worn out. Also, the distance is 24 kilometers; for 18 days, helicopters searched, divers searched, a sonar device was brought. They found nothing. So it is clear. They harmed the child outside, took her, and left her there. In other words, they staged it as a suicide.

“THE RECTOR HAS BOTH NEGLIGENCES AND TROUBLE WITH HIS RELATIVES”

'The rector has both neglicences and trouble with his relatives. Think about it; the other day we went to Kanal D. He sent a letter. They said a letter came from the university administration. They read it; initially, it said, 'Rojin went there of her own will.' She went, but where did she disappear? There is no last camera inside the university garden. They said one was broken, and one was black and white. At that moment, I said to the Rector, 'Look, if you had installed 3-4 cameras here and on the other side, everything would be solved clearly today.' At that moment, he also said, and in the list he sent to Kanal D, he wrote the same way, saying 'it is public private property.' Okay, it is public private property... The footage is still with me. After Rojin, they installed 5 cameras in the same corner, 4 of them are normal cameras. They capture that side he called private property. One is a rotating camera. Everything is visible there. Now, drunks or alcoholics, no one approaches that place. Because it is clear, there is a camera. The man looks up, sees a camera, and does not go. Even if patrols pass by, they don't go. They strung a wire there; there was a 5-6 meter gap at the broken point. People coming and going were using the university garden like a picnic area. If he had done these things earlier, why would this have happened?'
