While leadership debates continue in CHP following the court's "absolute nullity" decision, 111 MPs, including Özgür Özel, signed a joint declaration calling for an extraordinary congress to be held on July 12. Twenty-seven MPs did not support the declaration. Notable names who did not sign include Faik Öztrak, Oğuz Kaan Salıcı, İlhan Kesici, Gamze Akkuş İlgezdi, and Enis Berberoğlu. Attention now turns to the congress process.

Following the court's "absolute nullity" decision, which has kept leadership debates alive in the CHP, a notable step came from deputies supporting party leader Özgür Özel.

111 deputies, including Özel himself, signed a joint declaration calling for an extraordinary congress to be held on July 12, 2026. The declaration emphasized that the only authority to decide the CHP's future and governance is the delegates, and stated that shaping the party through court decisions is not accepted.

The deputies also highlighted that if the congress is not held by July 25, 2026, the CHP risks being unable to participate in elections.

"WE DO NOT ACCEPT OUR PARTY BEING SHAPED BY COURT DECISIONS"

The joint declaration stated, "The sole power to decide our party's direction, course, destiny, and governance is our delegates, who are elected from among our members."

The declaration also noted that the ongoing crisis must be resolved by convening the extraordinary congress as soon as possible to prevent harm to both the CHP and the country.

The CHP deputies who signed the joint declaration are as follows;
