26-year-old Gözde Akbaba, who was shot by her ex-boyfriend at the entrance of the site where she lived in the Menemen district of İzmir, lost her battle for life in the hospital. The suspect, who fled the scene after the incident, was caught by gendarmerie teams along with the weapon used in the crime, while the moment of the murder was captured by security cameras. The footage included gunshots and the cries for help of the unfortunate woman who lost her life.

On January 19, Monday, in the Menemen district of İzmir, Gözde Akbaba, who arrived at the entrance of her residence site, was shot by her ex-boyfriend Lokman E., who is alleged to have been harassing and threatening her for some time.

AMBUSH AND OPENED FIRE

According to the allegations, Lokman E., who had a restraining order against him and had previously threatened the young woman by saying, "I will kill you," ambushed Akbaba at the site entrance and opened fire. The young woman, who was injured below her left kneecap, was taken to Çiğli Training and Research Hospital by the ambulance that arrived at the scene.

Meanwhile, the armed attack that took place was recorded by a nearby security camera. The footage shows the young woman encountering the armed assailant as she was about to enter her home, followed by the assailant chasing the woman. The sounds of gunfire and the cries for help of the unfortunate woman who lost her life were also heard in the footage.

JASAT CAUGHT HIM RED-HANDED

After the incident, the Jandarma Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) and the Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) teams launched a wide-ranging investigation under the coordination of the Menemen Duty Public Prosecutor's Office. As a result of the field investigations, the suspect Lokman E. was caught while waiting at a gas station about an hour and a half after the incident. A licensed firearm and an empty magazine, believed to have been used in the incident, were seized during the search of the suspect.

LOST HER 2-DAY FIGHT FOR LIFE

Gözde Akbaba, 26, who was treated in the intensive care unit of the hospital, passed away on January 21 despite all the interventions. The news of the young woman's death plunged her family and loved ones into mourning.

HE WAS ARRESTED

After the autopsy procedures conducted by the Karşıyaka Duty Public Prosecutor, Akbaba's body was sent to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for an autopsy, while the detained suspect Lokman E. was arrested by the court after his procedures at the gendarmerie.
