For the first time since the bombing attack in Tunceli about 30 years ago, an official ceremony was held in a public area. The ceremony for the March 18 Gallipoli Victory and Martyrs' Commemoration was attended by the city protocol as well as Tunceli Governor Şefik Aygöl.

In Tunceli, following the suicide bomb attack during the official ceremony held in the city center on June 30, 1996, official programs were conducted in the garden of the Government House for many years instead of in public areas due to security reasons.

After nearly 30 years, the program held on March 18 for the Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Remembrance Day was moved back to the open area in the city center. The ceremony took place in the square located above the Underground Bazaar in Tunceli Center.

SECURITY MEASURES WERE TAKEN

In the ceremony where extensive security measures were taken, Tunceli Governor Şefik Aygöl, Tunceli Chief Public Prosecutor Ebru Cansu, Munzur University Rector Prof. Dr. Kenan Peker, and Tunceli Provincial Police Chief Kazım Günay Demiralay, along with provincial protocol, institutional representatives, and citizens attended.

As part of the program, a wreath-laying ceremony was held, a moment of silence was observed, and the National Anthem was sung. It was stated that the area where the ceremony took place would be redesigned as the city square and that future official ceremonies would continue to be held in the same area.
