Due to snowfall and adverse weather conditions in Kahramanmaraş, education has been suspended for one day in all six districts and in some schools in four districts.
According to the latest assessments of the Meteorology 6th Regional Directorate; rain, mixed rain and snow are expected in Kahramanmaraş on Sunday, January 11, 2026, and Monday, January 12, 2026.
SNOW IS AFFECTING KAHRAMANMARAŞ
While rain and occasional mixed rain are forecasted in the districts of Onikişubat, Dulkadiroğlu, and Türkoğlu, heavy snowfall is expected from time to time in areas with an altitude of 800 meters and above (North Ring Road, Tekir, Yedikuyular, Ahir Mountain and its surroundings). It has been reported that heavy snowfall will be effective in other districts throughout both days.
EDUCATION HAS BEEN SUSPENDED
In a statement from the Provincial Directorate of National Education, it was stated that education has been suspended for one day tomorrow due to snowfall and adverse weather conditions in the districts of Andırın, Çağlayancerit, Elbistan, Ekinözü, Göksun, and Nurhak.
The statement also reported that a holiday decision has been made for some schools located in rural neighborhoods of Türkoğlu, Dulkadiroğlu, Onikişubat, and Pazarcık districts for 1 day.
On the other hand, it was stated that pregnant and disabled personnel working in public institutions, mothers whose children attend daycare or kindergarten, and personnel with chronic illnesses will be considered on administrative leave. The situation of personnel working in units providing services on a 24-hour basis, such as health and security, will be evaluated by the relevant units in accordance with the needs of the service.
Authorities warned citizens to be careful and take precautions against the risks of icing, freezing, and blizzards.
