On the second day of the new academic year, two siblings caused terror in Mardin. In an incident in Mardin, the individuals who came to the door of a kindergarten assaulted the teacher on duty for not opening the door. ONE ATTACKED WITH A FIST, THE OTHER WITH A BELTThe incident took place yesterday at Hediye Alay Aktaş Kindergarten in the Mazıdağı district. Allegedly, two brothers, one of whom is a boxer, who wanted to enter the two-door school through the main door, asked Yusuf E., who was on duty at the school, to open the closed main door. When teacher Yusuf E. replied, "I don't have the key, enter through the other door," an argument started. The argument quickly escalated into a fight with punches and belts. While one of the brothers attacked teacher Yusuf E. with punches, the other started hitting him with the belt from his pants. The fight ended when other teachers intervened, and the beaten teacher was taken to Mazıdağı State Hospital for treatment by the health teams who arrived at the scene upon notification. The assailant brothers were taken into custody based on the complaint of Yusuf E., who received a medical report. It was reported that the procedures of the two brothers at the police station are ongoing. UNION MADE A PRESS STATEMENTAbdulselam Demir, the Mardin Provincial Chairman of Memur Sen and Eğitim Bir-Sen, organized a press statement in front of the school where the incident took place together with the members. Demir stated that violence against education workers has become a social problem and said, "Educators, who should be an important actor in preventing violence, have unfortunately become victims of violence. We must take measures to increase the prestige of educators, strengthen their position, and protect them against dangers. Educators should be protected by legal guarantees against violence and education should be an instrument that eliminates violence. Our teachers, whom we entrust our children, our hope, and our future, must be protected in every aspect. In this context, values education should be reconsidered in a way that includes the family and eliminates the possible negative effects of the social environment on students. The violence applied to our teacher in the garden of Hediye Alay Aktaş Kindergarten in Mazıdağı is not an ordinary incident. It is not an incident that will be ignored and passed over. Our teacher colleague was attacked by two thugs in the school garden during class hours. The thugs who violated the immunity of the state officer on duty within the school boundaries and hindered education by attacking the personnel must be severely punished. We condemn and curse this attack and all acts of violence against public employees."
