The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched an investigation into the 'Söylemez Brothers' organized crime group, resulting in operations in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir where 8 suspects were apprehended. It was determined that the organization used threats, coercion, and shooting methods to force victims into paying money.
An investigation has been launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the 'Söylemez Brothers' organized crime syndicate. Within the scope of the investigation, 8 suspects were apprehended in operations carried out across 3 provinces by teams from the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch of the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command.
NUMEROUS CRIMES FROM THREAT TO PREMEDITATED MURDER
An investigation has been initiated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the organized crime syndicate known publicly as the 'Söylemez Brothers'. In the ongoing investigation, it was revealed that the syndicate targeted individuals with commercial enterprises and assets, initially contacting victims through intermediaries under the guise of reconciliation or mediation regarding debt and credit matters, and when demands were not met, they used threats, force, pressure, and shootings, leveraging the group's longstanding armed capacity and intimidating power to force victims into making payments.
Moreover, research also determined that some members of the syndicate have records for crimes such as 'premeditated murder', 'intentional injury', 'robbery', and 'violation of Law No. 6136'.
8 SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
In line with instructions from the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, aimed at apprehending the identified suspects, teams from the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch of the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command conducted simultaneous operations at 13 addresses targeting 13 suspects across a total of 10 districts in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir in the early morning hours. While it was learned that one of the suspects is in prison, 8 suspects were taken into custody during the operation. Efforts to capture the remaining 4 suspects continue.
WHAT WAS FOUND DURING THE SEARCHES
Meanwhile, during searches at the suspects' addresses, 2 unlicensed pistols, 4 pistol magazines, 176 pistol rounds, 1 ballistic vest, 1 million 458 thousand 800 Turkish Lira, 39 thousand 200 Euros, 26 thousand 900 US Dollars, and numerous organizational documents and digital materials were seized. The investigation by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the matter continues.
