The founding petition for the NEW Party, established under the leadership of Özgür Özel who resigned from CHP, was officially submitted to the Ministry of Interior. After submitting the founding petition, Özgür Özel performed Friday prayers at Hacı Bayram-ı Veli Mosque, and upon exiting, citizens showed intense interest in him.

We are at Hacı Bayram Veli Mosque, where Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, after the occupation of first Istanbul and then Izmir, could no longer tolerate it, leaving behind palaces and official authorities, and embarked on that glorious march to organize liberation and foundation, culminating in Friday prayers on April 23, 1920, with the delegation he invited."
