A heartbreaking detail has emerged regarding the two cousins who drowned in an irrigation canal in Şanlıurfa. It was revealed that the 13-year-old lost his balance and fell into the water, while his 12-year-old cousin reached out to try to save him, but fell into the water as well, and both were swept away by the current.
On May 4th, Rüveyda Demir (12) and İbrahim Halil Kılıç (13), who went for a picnic with their families in the picnic area located in the Osmanbey neighborhood of Şanlıurfa, fell into an irrigation canal. Those who saw the cousins struggling in the irrigation canal rescued the children who could not swim from the water.

After the first intervention by the medical teams who arrived upon notification, the two children were taken to Harran University Hospital, where they could not be saved. The aunt's children were buried after their autopsies.

While the investigation continues, it was revealed that on the day of the incident, İbrahim Halil Kılıç started walking along the edge of the irrigation canal, lost his balance, and fell into the water, while his cousin Rüveyda Demir reached out to save him, and at that moment, they were both swept away by the current.
