The daughter of the master of Yeşilçam, Mahmut Cevher, the famous actress Yonca Şahinbaş, broke her silence for the first time on the program "Haber Bahane." Şahinbaş explained that she dropped the 'Cevher' surname at her father's request and shared striking truths about her psychological breakdown and her family. The actress, who drew attention with her words, "I don't have to love him just because he's my father," stated that she has not been in contact with her father for 10 years.

"I USED IT AS A JEST FOR MY FATHER"
In an interview with the famous host Gökay Kalaycıoğlu, Şahinbaş recounted that years ago, while she was acting in the series "Asla Vazgeçmem," she received a phone call that changed the course of her life. During a break on set, she shared that her mother told her, "Your father doesn't want you to use the Cevher surname." The actress expressed that she was shocked by these words but remained unresponsive. Şahinbaş said, "I said okay, no problem at all. I immediately called the producer, and we changed my surname in the credits. At that moment, I also updated my Instagram account to 'Şahinbaş.' I was already using the Cevher surname as a jest for my father."

However, it wasn't just a surname that changed... Yonca Şahinbaş was experiencing a much deeper emotional conflict within herself. After leaving her surname behind, the emotional turmoil she experienced led her to a psychologist. She says she asked herself this question there: "Do we have to love just because someone is a mother or a father? I felt uneasy because I didn't feel that way. It seemed like something was off." The answer the psychologist gave to this question relieved Yonca Şahinbaş. "No," her therapist said, "If there is no mutual healthy relationship, you don't have to love." That sentence wiped away the guilt she had been carrying inside.
