Five shots were fired with a gun around the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul. The Istanbul Governor's Office reported that one person has been detained in connection with the incident and a judicial investigation has been initiated.
At around 14:30 today, five shots were fired into the air near the Israeli Consulate located in Istanbul. Following reports from citizens, a large number of police teams were dispatched to the area; as a result of the investigations, it was determined that the person who fired the shots was 56-year-old B.K.
HE WAS DETAINED
The suspect was quickly captured and detained by the Istanbul Police Department's Counter-Terrorism (TEM) Branch teams.
STATEMENT FROM THE GOVERNOR'S OFFICE
In a statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office, it was reported that a judicial investigation has been initiated regarding the incident. Meanwhile, in the investigations conducted by the police teams related to the incident, it was determined that the suspect, who approached the consulate with a makeshift gun and a sword, shouted "I do not want Israel" while firing into the air.
It was found that B.K. had 7 "suspect" records for the crimes of "intentional injury, negligent injury, violation of the Law on Firearms and Knives and Other Tools, violation of the Law on Intellectual and Artistic Works, provision of dangerous substances for health, and insult."
