An investigation permit has been granted regarding the collapse of the two-block Yağmur Apartment in Kahramanmaraş during the earthquake, involving the then Mayor of Kahramanmaraş, Mustafa Poyraz, the Mayor of Onikişubat, Hanefi Mahçiçek, and eight public officials.
In the investigation conducted by the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the demolition of the two-block Yağmur Apartment in Hayrullah Neighborhood, a report prepared by the expert was separated for the files of 13 public officials attributed with fault, and permission for investigation was requested.
MINISTRY PREPARED A REPORT
The General Directorate of Provincial Administration of the Ministry of Interior, which examined the request for permission, prepared a report after conducting an investigation regarding the allegations against the 13 public officials.
INVESTIGATION PERMISSION FOR 2 MAYORS
After the report was reviewed by the ministry, permission was granted to initiate an investigation against the then Mayor of Kahramanmaraş, Mustafa Poyraz, the Mayor of Onikişubat, Hanefi Mahçiçek, the Directors of Z.A.Ş. and F.YY. of the Department of Urban Planning, the Deputy Director of the Department of Urban Planning O.Y.D, the Assistant Director of the Department of Urban Planning V.Ç., the Director of Urban Planning and Architecture S.A., and the Acting Directors of Urban Planning and Architecture H. M.G., M.Ö., and A.T.
WHO IS MUSTAFA POYRAZ?
Mustafa Poyraz is a politician born in 1957 in Kahramanmaraş, who has served in public service in this city for many years. He completed his pharmacy education at Ankara University Faculty of Pharmacy and graduated in 1979. He worked as a public pharmacist at the Kahramanmaraş Provincial Health Directorate for two years and then started working as a freelance pharmacist. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kahramanmaraş Chamber of Pharmacists.
Since 1994, Poyraz has held the position of Kahramanmaraş City Council Member and was appointed as the Mayor of Kahramanmaraş by the City Council on August 15, 2002. He was re-elected by popular vote in the local elections held on March 28, 2004, and March 29, 2009, serving a total of three terms as mayor. During his tenure, he implemented various projects in areas such as infrastructure, transportation, and social municipalism. He particularly emphasized cultural projects such as the Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Cultural Center. Mustafa Poyraz is married and has four children.
WHO IS HANEFİ MAHÇİÇEK?
Hanefi Mahçiçek was born in 1953 in Kahramanmaraş. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University and completed his master's degree in Economic Development and Regional Planning at Western Illinois University.
