The Premier League will allow a short break in matches during Ramadan for Muslim players to break their fast.

During the month of Ramadan, short breaks will be given in matches of the Premier League to allow Muslim players to break their fast.

ALLOWANCE

According to a report by the British public broadcaster BBC, as part of the implementation, it will be determined whether there are fasting players before the match. If it is time for iftar, the match will be temporarily stopped at an appropriate moment.

The break will generally be given at a moment when the game naturally stops, such as during a goal kick, free kick, or throw-in. The report emphasized that teams and match officials will plan the stoppage time in advance, and this break will not be used as a water break or tactical timeout.

A similar practice was first implemented in the lower leagues of the English Football League (EFL) in 2021. It was stated that the Premier League has also decided to continue this regulation.
