The President of the Vatican City State and the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Leo XIII, arrived in Ankara as part of his first official foreign trip. The flight that Pope Leo XIII took for his visit to Turkey became the most tracked flight on Flightradar24.
During his visit to Turkey, Pope Leo XIV's first stop was Ankara. The plane carrying the Pope landed at Ankara Esenboğa Airport at 12:30 PM.
THE MOST FOLLOWED FLIGHT
The Airbus A320 with tail registration EI-INA belonging to ITA Airways, carrying the Pope, took off from Rome at 07:58 local time to head to Ankara. Shortly after takeoff, the flight became the most followed flight on the flight tracking system Flightradar24.
WILL MEET WITH ERDOĞAN AFTER VISITING ANITKABIR
As part of his visit to Turkey, Pope Leo XIV is expected to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after visiting Anıtkabir in Ankara today. The Pope will also meet with the President of Religious Affairs, Safi Arpaguş, and will arrive in Istanbul in the evening.
WILL CONDUCT A SERVICE IN İZNİK
On Friday, November 28, Pope Leo XIV will first meet with bishops, priests, deacons, and spiritual officials at the Saint Esprit Catholic Church (Holy Spirit Cathedral) in Harbiye, Istanbul, and then visit the French Poorhouse. Pope Leo XIV will also visit the district of İznik in Bursa on November 28, where he will conduct a service.
