Seyithan Alay, who works at a gas station in the Gürsu district of Bursa, wrote "Putin" on a receipt for a license plate he couldn't read. Although Russian customers laughed at the situation when they noticed the receipt, things did not go well for Alay. He was fired without compensation due to the statement he wrote on the receipt.
An interesting incident occurred in the Gürsu district of Bursa. According to the claim, Seyithan Alay, who has been working at the gas station on Şehit Cüneyt Yıldız Street for 8 months, found the license plate of a vehicle with Russian plates confusing after it requested fuel during a busy period. Alay, who was trying to get through the rush, could not read the information clearly due to the complexity of the plate.
RUSSIANS BURST INTO LAUGHTER WHEN THEY SAW 'PUTIN' ON THE RECEIPT
To avoid delaying the transaction, he entered "Putin" into the system on the receipt. The Russian citizens in the vehicle recorded the moment with their mobile phone cameras, laughing as they realized the situation.
FIRED FROM WORK
After the footage spread rapidly on social media, the station management took action. Although it was stated that there was no malicious intent or insult, Seyithan Alay, who had been working for 8 months, was dismissed from his job.
"I HAD NO MALICIOUS INTENT"
Alay stated that there was a serious rush at the station at the time of the incident, saying, "A vehicle with Russian plates came. The plate was very complicated, I couldn't read it. At that moment, I thought of writing 'Putin'. It was completely due to the rush. I had no malicious intent. Despite this, they called me and fired me. I was very surprised," he said.
Lawyer Elif Şuara Güngör, speaking on the matter, stated, "The sanction that can be applied to the worker in this regard is not dismissal; at most, if there is any damage, a deduction from their daily wage. The fact that the worker has not been previously defended for any reason and has acted in accordance with the rules of honesty, yet is forced to resign, constitutes an abuse of rights. In this case, it will later emerge that the termination was unjustified," she said.
After the incident, there was a wide reaction on social media as well. Many users harshly criticized the dismissal of an employee due to a momentary reflex, while some users expressed that the decision was disproportionate.
