Polish fans booed the Israeli national anthem that was played before their match against Israel at the 2025 European Basketball Championship. Meanwhile, some fans outside the arena displayed Palestinian flags and held a protest against Israel's genocides in Gaza.
Before the Poland-Israel match at the 2025 European Basketball Championship, the Polish fans booed the anthem of the occupying Israel.
THEY PROTESTED BY BOOING
During the pre-match ceremony in Katowice, Poland, the host Polish fans protested Israel's attacks on Gaza by booing and whistling the Israeli national anthem. In footage captured by mobile phone cameras, as the match began, the fans supported their team by chanting slogans against Israel.
PALESTINIAN FLAGS WERE UNFURLED
At the Spodek Sports Hall where the match was played, some fans unfurled Palestinian flags, while outside the hall, a protest was held due to Israel's genocides in Gaza. The protesters chanted, "The real terrorist is the state of Israel" and "Freedom for Palestine." The banners carried during the demonstrations included calls for Israel to "end its genocide in Gaza" and for the international community to isolate Israel.
AT LEAST 63 THOUSAND PALESTINIANS HAVE DIED
Since October 7, 2023, at least 63,557 Palestinians have lost their lives in the attacks carried out by Israel on the Gaza Strip, and 160,660 people have been injured.
