President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who is in China to attend the 25th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of State Council, is continuing bilateral meetings with leaders. President Erdoğan met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The meeting is ongoing.
During the meeting, Putin told Erdoğan, "Our energy partnership is of strategic importance. Russia is supplying gas to Turkey via the Black Sea without interruption." The Russian leader thanked Erdoğan for his diplomatic and political contributions to resolving the Ukraine crisis and expressed that Turkey's special role in mediation and diplomacy will continue to be in demand in the future.
"WE EXPECT YOU SOON"
Erdoğan told Putin, "We expect you to our country soon," and added, "We have a sincere relationship based on trust."
In the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that the spirit of cooperation that has existed between Turkey and Russia in areas such as trade, tourism, investments, and energy continues.
Erdoğan noted that Turkey's efforts for a fair and lasting peace in the war in Ukraine are ongoing, and he believes that the Istanbul negotiations contribute to the peace process. He also expressed his hope that the negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia will lead to lasting peace, stating that permanent stability in the Caucasus would be in the common interest of Turkey and Russia.
Additionally, discussions were held regarding Israel's attacks on Gaza and the preservation and development of Syria's territorial integrity and political unity.
MEETING WITH ALIYEV AND PASINYAN
Erdoğan first met with Azerbaijani President Aliyev today. The meeting also included Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
According to a statement from the Communications Directorate, the meeting addressed Turkey-Azerbaijan bilateral relations, regional, and global issues. President Erdoğan emphasized the importance of coordinating the regional development initiatives of the two countries in the upcoming period.
Erdoğan stated that Turkey and Azerbaijan will continue to take steps to enhance cooperation in many areas, especially in energy and transportation. The President also expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan and noted that Turkey will continue to contribute to the process.
After meeting with Aliyev, President Erdoğan held a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
