Erdoğan said, "Throughout history, our nation has been a nation that builds cities, not destroys them. Even before 80% of European cities were established, Hacı Bayram-ı Veli presented a manifesto of urbanism with his poem 'My God has created a city.'

President Erdoğan stated, "In our civilization, a city is regarded as more than just a place where people live together; it is accepted as an entity that possesses identity. A city also grants identity to a person."

Recalling his time as the Mayor of Istanbul, Erdoğan said, "We worked not only to build but also to revive our cities. When we took on the responsibility in Istanbul, and when we rolled up our sleeves in November 2002, we faced the accumulated problems of decades. We must reunite our architecture with a national style."

Migration to urban areas in our country continues unabated. It is not difficult to predict that our cities will become even more crowded in the coming period."

President Erdoğan stated, "We cannot beautify a city just by erecting buildings." He emphasized, "It is necessary to create the roads, parks, and squares that will breathe life into that building, in other words, to open the lifelines that will sustain that city."

Criticizing opposition party municipalities, Erdoğan said, "The mentality that sees the municipality it manages as a fiefdom is watching our cities decay before their eyes. Allegations of bribery, misconduct, and corruption are never-ending. Unfortunately, the discredited understanding of municipal governance that we buried in history 30 years ago has resurfaced. Uncollected garbage, broken roads, and unclean water have become the routine of opposition municipalities once again."
