President Erdoğan filed a lawsuit for 500,000 lira in damages against CHP leader Özel due to his statements referring to him as a "coup plotter."
President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has filed a lawsuit for 500,000 TL in moral damages against CHP leader Özgür Özel.
HIS LAWYER MADE A STATEMENT
Erdoğan's lawyer Hüseyin Aydın stated in his remarks regarding the issue, "A lawsuit for 500,000 TL in moral damages has been filed at the Ankara Civil Court due to the baseless accusations targeting our esteemed President by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel during the extraordinary congress, including slanderous expressions such as 'coup plotter' etc. Additionally, a criminal complaint has been filed with the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of insulting the President," he said.

CHP leader Özel stated in his speech at the party's extraordinary congress, "I am someone who knows very well what can be said to a President, but why a coup leader would understand it. Unfortunately, in this process, my interlocutor is not a President, but a coup leader," he said.
