Simultaneous raids were conducted on 120 addresses linked to an illegal betting ring, which was found to have reached a transaction volume of 10 billion TL using citizens' bank and crypto accounts, resulting in the detention of 107 suspects.
The relentless fight against illegal virtual betting and gambling organizations across Turkey continues unabated. Following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's resolute emphasis, "We have implemented a comprehensive action plan to eradicate the plague of virtual betting and gambling that drags our people into a quagmire," security and judicial units pressed the button for a major operation at dawn this morning.
SIMULTANEOUS DAWN RAIDS AT 120 ADDRESSES IN 28 PROVINCES
Within the scope of the investigation coordinated by the Nevşehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a vast network facilitating illegal betting by systematically using citizens' bank and cryptocurrency accounts was identified. After completing technical and physical surveillance, simultaneous operations were conducted by security forces at 120 separate addresses across 28 provinces this morning. As a result of the raids, 107 suspects identified as network members were apprehended and taken into custody.
MINISTER GÜRLEK: THEY REACHED A VOLUME OF 10 BILLION TL
Justice Minister Akın Gürlek made the official statement regarding the details of the successful operation. Drawing attention to the financial scale reached by the illegal betting network, Minister Gürlek stated: "In another successful operation coordinated by our Nevşehir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous raids were conducted at 120 separate addresses across 28 provinces targeting an illegal virtual betting gang that reached a volume of 10 billion TL by using our citizens' bank and cryptocurrency accounts, and 107 suspects were targeted."
OPERATIONS WILL CONTINUE
It was reported that the statement procedures of the gang members, who were running a massive illicit money flow by seizing or renting out citizens' bank and cryptocurrency accounts in particular, are ongoing at the police station. It was emphasized that operations against virtual betting and gambling networks will continue and expand within the scope of the action plan implemented by the Presidency.
