President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a call for "Gaza" during the Expanded Session of the 25th Heads of State Council Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Erdoğan stated, "The UN needs reform. 63,000 people have been massacred in Gaza. We must put our heads in our hands and think. There is no explanation for being unable to stop the brutality of babies, children, and the elderly dying of hunger for 23 months."
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Expanded Session of the 25th Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at the Meyciang Congress Center.
In his speech, Erdoğan stated, "If the international community cannot prevent the massacre of more than 63,000 Gazans, most of whom are children, women, and the elderly, and the starvation of innocent children, we must all put our heads in our hands and think. The fact is that there is no explanation for being unable to stop the barbarity of babies, children, and the elderly dying of hunger for 23 months, and there cannot be. I believe it is our responsibility to make the United Nations a platform representing global justice in the face of the atrocities that the Palestinian people, especially in Gaza, have been subjected to for years. The UN needs reform. I would like to thank all my friends and all those with a conscience who raise their voices for the entire Palestinian people, including Gaza and the West Bank," he said.
Stating that a new era offering historic opportunities for lasting regional peace and stability has begun in Syria, President Erdoğan said, "The support we will provide for the reconstruction of Syria, while preserving its territorial integrity and political unity, is for the benefit of our entire region. We will continue to stand against any initiative that threatens the security and territorial integrity of our neighbor Syria."
"STEPS TAKEN FOR PERMANENT PEACE AND STABILITY IN THE SOUTH CAUCASUS AND CENTRAL ASIA ARE SATISFACTORY" President Erdoğan emphasized that the recent steps taken to ensure lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the South Caucasus and Central Asia are commendable, and he noted:
"We hope that these steps will contribute to the development of human, economic, and commercial relations, as well as the opening of transportation and communication lines. Our close cooperation with our brother countries in Central Asia through bilateral and multilateral platforms is developing day by day. The steps we take within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States contribute not only to our brother countries but also to the stability of our wider region. Our efforts continue in line with our goal of hosting the 31st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in 2025. We see developments in energy and connectivity as vital for global stability, economic development, energy supply security, and sustainable growth."
Stating that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an important platform for increasing energy security and developing partnerships in strategic infrastructure projects, President Erdoğan said, "As the westernmost Asian and the easternmost European; with our geostrategic position at the very center of Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, we continue to contribute to the uninterrupted and secure flow of transportation and communication. While aiming to revitalize the historic Silk Road with the East-West Middle Corridor Initiative crossing the Caspian, we are also working to align this initiative with the Belt and Road Initiative. With the 'Development Road' project we have implemented in the north-south-east direction, we aim to connect a wide geography. Turkey's vision is to solve problems based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries through dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation. In this context, we aim for a world order that prioritizes economic development, trade, and the welfare of societies. I hope to strengthen our cooperation with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which represents the ancient climate of tolerance in Asia and the tradition of finding common solutions to problems," he stated.
