The provincial border between Muş and Bitlis was officially redefined with a decree published under the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The new border line, drawn based on the Karasu River and various surrounding points, eliminated the administrative uncertainty between the two provinces, while the decree also stated that the existing general and special rights of the parties would be preserved.
The provincial border between Muş and Bitlis was redefined and officially established following a decree published with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. With the decision, administrative uncertainties regarding the border line between the two provinces were also resolved.
PRESIDENTIAL DECREE PUBLISHED IN THE OFFICIAL GAZETTE
With Presidential Decree No. 11426 dated June 12, 2026, published in the Official Gazette, the provincial border between Günkırı Municipality, affiliated with Bitlis's Güroymak district, and Büvetli Village, affiliated with Muş's Hasköy district, was redefined.
It was stated that the decision was made under Article 2 of Provincial Administration Law No. 5442.
BORDER LINE DETERMINED WITH COORDINATES
According to the sketch and coordinates included in the annex of the decree, the border line was drawn starting from the Karasu River, passing through points such as Ayzut Burnu, Kilise Tepesi, Küçükhopikan Tepesi, Gevot Tepesi, and Püşürük Tepesi.
In line with the determined coordinates, the border between the two provinces was officially recorded.
ADMINISTRATIVE UNCERTAINTY ENDED
With the regulation that came into effect, administrative uncertainties regarding the said border line between Muş and Bitlis were eliminated.
The decree also included a provision stating that the general and special rights of the parties remaining within each other's borders were reserved.
