President Erdoğan answered journalists' questions on the plane returning from the G-20 summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Speaking about the current issues, Erdoğan stated regarding former U.S. President Joe Biden's missile decision and his statements on the Ukraine-Russia front, "The U.S. decision to allow missiles to Ukraine is not correct." Erdoğan said, "Since the beginning of the Ukraine-Russia war, we believe that it can end not with more weapons, more blood, and more tears, but with more efforts for peace, more goodwill, and diplomacy. Now, the step taken by Mr. Biden will be interpreted as a move made to fuel the war, to ensure it never ends, or even to spread it. Biden's step will lead to a greater response from Russia beyond escalating the conflict. Mr. Putin has also approved a doctrine that allows for a nuclear response if his country is subjected to ballistic missile attacks. All of this could bring the region and the world to the brink of a new and great war. The understanding of 'after me, the deluge' will lead nowhere. Our expectation and hope is that both Ukraine and Russia will focus on peace while maintaining calm without falling into provocations. The smallest mistake made on the ground created by this great error will be no different from lighting a fuse on a powder keg. Therefore, I advise everyone to act carefully," he stated.
