ERDOĞAN: WE HAVE BROUGHT OUR NATIONAL INCOME TO THE 1.5 TRILLION DOLLAR THRESHOLD
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the 50th anniversary program of HAK-İŞ. President Erdoğan gave a clear message in the fight against inflation. Stating that the biggest factor behind Turkey's historic achievements over the past 23 years has been the dominance of a stable and secure environment in politics and society, President Erdoğan said, "When 'butterfly-lifetime' governments are replaced by competent and resilient cadres, we have all seen what the country can achieve in a short time. Just looking at these figures is often enough to see the distance Turkey has covered despite the winds blowing from the other side. We have recorded an average annual growth rate of 5.4 percent in the economy over 23 years. In 2002, our national income was 238 billion dollars; we have brought this to the threshold of 1.5 trillion dollars in 2024," he said.
"OUR CENTRAL BANK RESERVES ARE AT 185 BILLION DOLLARS"
Expressing that the national income per capita was 3,608 dollars and has risen to 14,751 dollars in 2024, President Erdoğan continued his remarks as follows: "In the second quarter of 2025, the national income per capita approached 17,000 dollars. Our Central Bank reserves were 27 billion dollars; thank God, now they are at the level of 185 billion dollars. Our exports, which were 36 billion dollars, have exceeded 270 billion dollars. We have never compromised on production and employment. For exactly 29 months, our unemployment rate has remained at single-digit levels.
"WE WILL DEFINITELY SOLVE THE ISSUE OF THE COST OF LIVING"
TurkStat also announced the labor force statistics for the third quarter of 2025 today. Our seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was realized at 8.5 percent. Again, in the third quarter, our labor force reached 35 million 568 thousand, and our employment reached 32 million 558 thousand. While achieving these successes in different areas of the economy, we also spent around 90 billion dollars for our earthquake-affected regions. Just last Saturday, we drew the lottery for the 350,000th disaster housing in Adıyaman. These are just the beginning.
Under the guidance of the Medium-Term Program that came into effect last month, we will hopefully achieve much more significant successes in the next three years. We will definitely solve the issue of the cost of living that has troubled us all. We are certainly aware that there is a path we need to take to reach our single-digit inflation target. But we have the strength and will to walk this path patiently, thank God. With God's permission, we will walk this path and reach our goal.
