Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office denied the claims on social media that Ekrem İmamoğlu's meeting with deputies was forbidden. Stating that all detainees and convicts in penal institutions fully exercise their visitation rights in accordance with the regulations, the Prosecutor's Office emphasized that these posts do not reflect the truth. An investigation was initiated against the account users spreading the unfounded allegations for publicly disseminating misleading information under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code.

The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has categorically denied the claims circulating on some social media accounts that "Ekrem İmamoğlu's meeting with members of parliament has been banned," and announced that an investigation has been launched against those making false posts.

"THE ALLEGATIONS DO NOT REFLECT THE TRUTH"

In the official statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that allegations of such a ban being imposed on Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is one of the defendants in the case file numbered 2025/318 of the Istanbul 40th Heavy Penal Court, are unfounded. The statement emphasized that all detainees and convicts remaining in penal institutions have their visitation rights fully exercised within the framework of the legislation, and it was expressed that the aforementioned posts do not reflect the truth.

INVESTIGATION UNDER TURKISH PENAL CODE ARTICLE 217/A AGAINST THOSE MAKING FALSE POSTS

The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which took action against posts aimed at misleading the public with false allegations, has initiated legal proceedings against the users of the relevant social media accounts. The statement reported that an investigation has been launched against the said users under Article 217/A of the Turkish Penal Code (TPC) (Publicly disseminating misleading information).
