US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was protested by pro-Palestinian participants during his testimony on the budget of his ministry in Congress, with the words "You will be known as the butcher of Gaza."
While Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip have been ongoing for 228 days, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken was protested by a group of Palestinian supporters during his statement at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Blinken did not engage in a debate with the protesters and waited for them to be removed from the room to continue his speech.
NUMBER OF DEATHS IN GAZA REACHED 36 THOUSAND
In a statement from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, it was stated that the Israeli army carried out "5 massacres" in the attacks it launched on various parts of Gaza in the last 24 hours, and 85 Palestinians lost their lives and 200 people were injured. It was reported that the number of deaths in the attacks Israel has launched on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has reached 35,647, and the number of injured has reached 79,852. While this humanitarian tragedy continues to escalate, a pro-Palestinian protest in the US Senate drew attention.
"YOU WILL BE KNOWN AS THE GAZA BUTCHER"
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's speech was interrupted by protests while giving a statement on US diplomacy, global challenges, and the 2025 budget request in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. A participant in the room stood up with a Palestinian flag in his hand and shouted, "Hind Receb, who was killed by Israel, was 6 years old. Blinken, you will be known as the Gaza butcher. You will be known as the killer of innocent Palestinians."
THEY PAINTED THEIR HANDS RED AND CHANTED SLOGANS
The protesters, who painted their hands red to represent the blood of Palestinians killed by Israel, shouted at Blinken, "War criminal", "Genocide minister", "Bloody butcher", and "The blood of 40,000 Palestinians is on his hands." One protester, who was forcibly removed by the police, chanted slogans with a "War criminal" banner in his hand, saying, "Blinken is a war criminal." Blinken, who waited silently during the 3 separate protest actions, later continued his speech in the session.
RECEB, WHOSE NAME WAS MENTIONED IN THE PROTEST, PLEADED NOT TO DIE
In February, Israel targeted a vehicle in Gaza. 6-year-old Hind Receb, who was in the vehicle with her relatives, survived the initial attack but was trapped in the vehicle due to the siege by Israeli forces.
Receb pleaded for 3 hours on the phone with officials from the Palestinian Red Crescent, saying, "They are all dead, come and take me, I don't want to be alone here. I'm very scared, please send someone to pick me up." However, she could not be rescued due to the attacks by Israeli forces. After the Israeli forces withdrew from the region 12 days later, the lifeless bodies of Hind Receb, her uncle, her uncle's wife, and their 3 children were found in the vehicle.
