Ben-Gvir and other lawmakers celebrated the bill's passage by raising champagne glasses. Expressing his satisfaction with the approval of the bill he led, Ben-Gvir stated, "Let's execute the terrorists, as many as possible."
KNOWN FOR ANTI-PALESTINIANISM
Ben-Gvir, who is part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's far-right government, is a prominent figure known for his anti-Palestinian stance. It has been reported that after Ben-Gvir became National Security Minister, torture and mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails have increased further.
Ben-Gvir, who frequently conducts raids on prisons where Palestinians are held, has boasted about the pressure and mistreatment applied to Palestinians in prisons. Since Ben-Gvir took office as National Security Minister, 89 Palestinian prisoners have died in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023, prioritizing the preparation of the death penalty bill.
