BURULAŞ workers, who could not reach an agreement with the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, went on strike. Mayor Mustafa Bozbey announced on social media at 04:40 that no agreement could be reached during the meeting held at night. Stating that it was impossible to meet the union's demands, Bozbey mentioned that approximately 1,500 private public buses would operate in a loop from the morning hours to avoid inconveniencing the citizens of Bursa.

"1500 PUBLIC BUSES ON DUTY"

Bursa Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Bozbey expressed that they did everything they could to prevent issues related to transportation and stated that they could not convince the union, saying, "Despite offering a salary above the monthly amounts provided by Ankara and Konya, we still could not convince the union. Unfortunately, due to the union's stance, we had to go on strike. We immediately started our operations with our friends. We believe that transportation is a right, and no one can prevent our citizens from getting from one place to another. In this sense, I sincerely thank our friends who will return to their duties without participating in the strike. They will transport our citizens from one place to another safely. About 1,500 public buses are also on duty at the same time. We have other solutions as well. We never wanted this strike. It is absolutely impossible for us to want it. We stand by our workers. We did everything we could to raise their living standards. Despite extraordinary circumstances, we did what was necessary, but we could not convince the union. This strike will be resolved in a short time. Our Bursa citizens will breathe easier. Our wish is for the strike to end as soon as possible. We are making efforts for this. Unfortunately, the union may be thinking of other things. However, I leave that to the discretion of our employees and the people of Bursa." he said.

TRAFFIC HAS COME TO A STANDSTILL

While intern drivers operated metro services at some points, approximately 1,500 private public buses also ran in a loop.
