Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç announced that an investigation has been launched regarding the Leman magazine, which published a scandalous cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad with bombs. A detention order has been issued for four individuals related to the matter.

A cartoon published in the latest issue of the humor magazine Leman has caused reactions. The scandalous cartoon depicting Haz Muhammad with bombs has brought about reactions.

INVESTIGATION REGARDING THE SCANDALOUS CARTOON IN LEMAN MAGAZINE

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made a statement regarding the issue. Minister Tunç stated that an investigation has been initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. A detention order has been issued for 4 individuals, including the author, two editors-in-chief, and the responsible managing editor.

"DISRESPECT TOWARDS OUR BELIEFS CAN NEVER BE ACCEPTED"

Minister Tunç used the following statements in a post on his social media account: "Disrespect towards our beliefs can never be accepted. An investigation has been initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of 'publicly degrading religious values' under Article 216 of the Turkish Penal Code regarding the drawing of a cartoon of our Prophet Muhammad by a humor magazine.

No freedom grants the right to make a mockery of the sacred values of a belief in an ugly manner. The cartoonization of our Prophet Muhammad or any attempt to visually represent him not only harms our religious values but also societal peace. Necessary legal steps will be taken without delay against this provocation that disregards the beliefs of millions of Muslims."
