DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY OPERATION
Federal agents raided the Washington, D.C. home of Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar on Monday morning. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) teams operating under the Department of Homeland Security took part in the search conducted around 6:00 a.m. local time.
The U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that the operation was carried out under a court-authorized search warrant and was connected to an ongoing federal criminal investigation. The department did not provide information about the details of the investigation.
IMMIGRATION DOCUMENTS ARE THE FOCUS OF THE INVESTIGATION
It was reported that the investigation is connected to immigration documents prepared when Somalia-born Ilhan Omar immigrated to the U.S. as a child. According to the allegations, the documents in question were filled out by Omar's father.
