The shopping mall project, which stabbed like a dagger into the heart of Mardin, started as a multi-storey parking lot construction. The project, which distorted the city's silhouette with illegal floors, eventually turned into a shopping mall and hotel.
CONTROVERSIAL 'DOOR'
The company did not stop at just building a shopping mall. The company that constructed an ugly door at the entrance of the city, which dates back thousands of years, also ignored the demolition order issued by the Mardin Cultural Heritage Preservation Board.
Ignoring the reactions, the company continued its activities without demolishing the illegal floors and the entrance door.
PARKING LOT TURNED INTO AN ILLEGAL AMPHITHEATER
The company's irregularities did not end there. Under the guise of shopping mall and hotel construction, the parking lot located just below the project construction area was illegally converted into an amphitheater.
THEY EVEN SOLD THE ROAD
In addition, the company purchased the road at the entrance of Diyarbakır Gate, which is the historical entrance of Mardin, in 2019. Documents emerged indicating that the historical city's entrance road was sold to the shopping mall after zoning changes were made with a decision taken in February-March 2019.
