An indictment has been prepared against two suspects for aggravated imprisonment in connection with the death of 14-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who lost his life as a result of a knife attack in Kadıköy.
Two suspects have been requested to receive aggravated prison sentences for the intentional murder of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, the son of Italian Chef Andrea Minguzzi, who lost his life in a knife attack in Kadıköy, Istanbul.
An indictment has been prepared regarding the investigation into the murder of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, the son of Italian Chef Andrea Minguzzi, in Istanbul. The indictment includes statements from friends who were with the victim on the day of the incident, taken as witnesses.
It was recorded that witness D.A.D. stated that they went to the market as a group of friends on the day of the incident, and a child they knew previously made a remark to them saying "bike gang," to which the victim responded, "not a bike, a skateboard," leading to a verbal argument that was intervened by shopkeepers. It was noted that as they were about to leave the market, the suspects returned, and one of them started to attack the victim, while the other stabbed him 3-4 times.
THEY DEFENDED THEMSELVES
The statements of the suspects U.B. and B.B. were also included in the indictment. In his statement, suspect U.B. said that he saw the other suspect B.B. stab the victim 5-6 times, while suspect B.B. claimed that he was provoked, that the victim insulted his mother and sister, and that he stabbed him out of provocation and fled in fear.
VIDEO FOOTAGE WAS EXAMINED
According to the autopsy report obtained from the Forensic Medicine Institution, it was emphasized that the victim had 3 incised wounds on his body and a penetrating wound in his chest, and that the cause of death was due to internal organ injuries related to the incised wounds. It was also stated that the suspects were clearly identified in the examined video footage.
REQUEST FOR AGGRAVATED PRISON SENTENCE
The prosecution stated that the suspects had a verbal argument with the victim at the scene, threatened him with words like "I will stab you," and then attacked him with kicks and punches, noting that while suspect U.B. was kicking, B.B. stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife he took from the counter. They requested that the suspects B.B. and U.B., who are under 18, be sentenced to aggravated imprisonment of up to 24 years for the crime of "intentional murder against a child."
WHAT HAPPENED?
On January 24, 2025, Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi went to the flea market in Hasanpaşa Neighborhood with his friends to buy skateboarding equipment and clothes.
While they were shopping, a person made a remark saying, "You are very handsome." Mattia responded, "Excuse me, brother." Following this, a verbal argument ensued between them. After a while, a fight broke out when the parties encountered each other again. The suspect B.B. (15), who was separated by the intervention of nearby shopkeepers, ran back and attacked Mattia with a knife.
The young man collapsed to the ground from the knife wounds and was severely injured. The other attacker, U.B. (16), kicked the child who was lying on the ground in a pool of blood. The attackers fled the scene, and those moments were captured by security cameras. After the incident, the suspects B.B. and U.B. were arrested and sent to prison.
