AK Party member Şamil Tayyar claimed that the broadcaster Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, who was arrested last week as part of a drug investigation conducted under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, is a whistleblower. While Tayyar's statement has garnered significant public attention, the prosecutor's office announced that Cebeci has not made any request to benefit from the provisions of remorse.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues to reveal new allegations in the drug investigation involving numerous famous names. Within the scope of the investigation, the broadcaster Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, who was referred to the peace criminal court on charges of "facilitating the use of narcotic substances," was arrested and sent to prison last week.
SHAMIL TAYYAR'S "INFORMANT" CLAIM
Shamil Tayyar, a member of the AK Party, claimed in a program aired on TGRT News that Ela Rümeysa Cebeci is an informant. In his assessment of the course of the investigation, Tayyar argued that the case could extend to new names in the coming days.
"EVERY CONFESSION BRINGS NEW NAMES TO THE AGENDA"
Speaking in the program, Tayyar stated that every statement given in investigations could lead to new detention and arrest decisions, claiming that the previously frequently mentioned broadcaster Ela Rümeysa Cebeci is an informant. Tayyar's remarks drew attention during the live broadcast.
CEM KÜÇÜK: I RECEIVED INFORMATION THAT SHE IS NOT AN INFORMANT
Cem Küçük and Fuat Uğur, who were present in the program, objected to Tayyar's statements. Küçük expressed that they received information indicating that Cebeci is not an informant, stating that he was informed in his discussions with judicial authorities that Cebeci only admitted to certain conversations.
In response to these objections, Shamil Tayyar said, "Let me say it happened, you say it didn't; let it be recorded that way." The debate continued with Tayyar's words, "Trust what I say."
NO REQUEST MADE
Meanwhile, following Tayyar's statements, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also issued a statement. The prosecutor's office denied the allegation, stating that Ela Rümeysa Cebeci has not made any request to benefit from the effective remorse provisions so far.
