WHO IS MERTHAN AÇIL?

Born on February 15, 1982, Merthan Açıl started football in the youth team of Bakırköyspor and then moved up to the professional team. After playing there for two years, he transferred to Çaykur Rizespor. He played there for four years and was loaned to İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor and Giresunspor in the 2005-06 season. He transferred to Kasımpaşa in the 2006-07 season. During the winter break of the 2011-12 season, he left the club and signed a contract with Adanaspor.

Açıl, who won the 1st League championship with Adanaspor in the 2015-16 season, transferred to Ümraniyespor, one of the new teams in the 1st League, at the beginning of the 2016-17 season. Most recently, he achieved promotion to the Super League with Erzurumspor and ended his active football career. Açıl, who also played for Hull City in the English Championship for a period, continued his activities in the sports world.
