One of the legendary figures of Turkish music, Sezen Aksu, broke her silence following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu after the İBB operation and the events that occurred during the protests. Minik Şerçe stated, "Even if I feel that they will not listen to me, I see it as my duty to call out to those responsible."
Protests that began after the arrest of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu have resonated widely in Turkey's agenda. Artist Sezen Aksu made a statement following the events, calling for action.
Aksu stated in her article titled "This is my call for reason!" the following lines: I am in a deep sadness that is more painful, agonizing, and profound than the physical pain caused by the situation our unique homeland, which belongs to all of us, has fallen into.
Even if I feel that they will not listen to me, I consider it my duty to address those responsible.
It is your responsibility to listen to the voices of so many people, to understand them, to carry out all your practices in accordance with the law, to never violate human rights, and especially to protect our future youth as if they were your own, without discrimination against any of our citizens.
With the hope that you will evaluate what I have said with the measure of reason...
