The access ban imposed on Instagram on August 2nd, by the decision of the Information Technologies Institution, was lifted on August 10th. It is claimed that the Instagram ban has infuriated the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and the Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat. In the backstage, it is rumored that the two ministers argue that "tourism and the economy have been negatively affected" due to this decision.

The access ban imposed on Instagram, which was later removed, is claimed to have caused a reaction from the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and the Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat.

Turkey's decision to block access to Instagram has caused a reaction from entrepreneurs who sell products through social media. Experts have expressed their opposition to the decision, stating that the ban could affect the daily e-commerce volume worth 1.9 billion TL. This ban on Instagram has reportedly caused a reaction not only from the public but also from the two ministers.

TWO MINISTERS REACT TO THE INSTAGRAM BAN

Journalist Nuray Babacan wrote in her article, "It is said that the first person to react to this ban is the Minister of Tourism, considering the damage and economic losses it has caused to businesses. It seems that the cost of creating the perception that thousands of foreign tourists visiting Turkey are in a country where Instagram is banned has driven the minister crazy. It is stated that the advertisements made at the cost of millions of liras to create a peaceful and free country image have gone to waste."

In her article, Babacan continues, "The Minister of Tourism is not the only one who reacts to being compared to North Korea, Uganda, and Iran during this period when tourists cannot share a single photo or memory and cannot promote Turkey. The other person whose door is constantly knocked on is the Minister of Trade. It is stated that this ban has also caused serious problems in this ministry, as small businesses already struggling with the economic crisis lose their promotional and marketing opportunities."
