With this decision, Sözcü TV's broadcast was suspended for 10 days starting from midnight tonight. After a brief introduction, a message appeared on the screen stating, "Our broadcast has been suspended for 10 days due to the repeated violation of the principle stated in Article 8, paragraph (b) of Law No. 6112, which prohibits inciting hatred and hostility in society based on race, language, religion, gender, class, region, and sect, as per the decision No. 17 taken in the meeting dated 27.03.2025 by our organization, broadcasted on 23.03.2025 at 19:59 during the program titled 'Nokta Atışı'."
RTÜK PRESIDENT ŞAHİN: IT WAS APPLIED DUE TO SEVERE AND INTENTIONAL BROADCAST VIOLATIONS
RTÜK President Ebubekir Şahin, in a post on his social media account regarding the issue, stated that the 10-day broadcasting suspension was imposed due to ongoing broadcasting violations despite long-standing warnings. Şahin expressed that these sanctions were being portrayed as if they were suddenly imposed to mislead the public.
Şahin used the following statements: "Some misleading and disinformation-containing statements that have been attempted to be reflected to the public in recent days should not be trusted. The 10-day broadcasting suspension imposed on Sözcü TV and Halk TV, along with the 5 program suspensions on Tele1, were applied due to severe and intentional broadcasting violations that continued despite constructive warnings for a long time."
It is not true that these sanctions are being presented as if they were suddenly imposed by certain politicians and known circles trying to gain visibility and popularity through RTÜK. We remind once again: RTÜK's principle decisions are transparent, the provisions of Law No. 6112 are indisputable, and court decisions are clear. On this occasion, we invite all our broadcasters to comply with the law and relevant regulations in their broadcasts.
