Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee and AK Party Ankara Deputy, attended the 'Allies in Ankara' program held at Ankara Palas in cooperation with the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, the Munich Security Conference (MSC), and the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA) within the scope of the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in Ankara.

TBMM Foreign Affairs Commission Chairman Fuat Oktay participated as a speaker (panelist) in the panel titled "Beyond the Post-Cold War Order: Navigating the Age of Strategic Uncertainty" within the scope of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, as part of the "Allies in Ankara" program.

In the panel moderated by SETA Washington DC Executive Director Kadir Üstün, along with Fuat Oktay, Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Türkiye's Ambassador to the Syrian Arab Republic Nuh Yılmaz, and IISS Regional Security Director Emile Hokayem served as speakers.

NATO'S FUTURE AND INTERNATIONAL STABILITY EVALUATED

In the panel, after thirty years since the Cold War, the future of NATO and international stability were evaluated in this age of strategic uncertainty, where assumptions defining the international order are questioned, geopolitical competition increases, and new technological fault lines emerge.

In his speech at the panel, Fuat Oktay emphasized that Türkiye is prepared for the uncertainties brought by the changing international system, that Türkiye makes its weight felt at the very center of the alliance far beyond merely protecting NATO's southern flank, and that it plays a balancing role both in its region and within NATO.

"PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN WILL PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN STRENGTHENING UNITY AND SOLIDARITY AT THE NATO SUMMIT"

Fuat Oktay stated that the development of the Turkish defense industry contributes to NATO's strength, and underlined that there should be no sanctions on the defense industry among alliance members. Oktay also noted that President Erdoğan will play an important role in strengthening unity and solidarity at the NATO Summit.

PANELS SERVE AS AN IMPORTANT IDEA PLATFORM FOR THE NATO SUMMIT

The program held at Ankara Palas brings together ministers, senior officials, and security experts from NATO member and partner countries to address global security challenges. It serves as an important idea platform where key security issues on the NATO Summit agenda are discussed with decision-makers and experts from different countries.

40 DIFFERENT SESSIONS TO BE HELD OVER TWO DAYS

"Allies in Ankara," which will offer a dynamic space for discussion and networking in parallel with the official NATO Summit processes, will host various panels, roundtable meetings, and side events over two days.

In the program where a total of 40 different sessions will be held, critical topics such as "Europe's defense readiness, burden-sharing in NATO, Ukraine's role in future security architecture, Türkiye's defense industry capacity, and strengthening interoperability among allies" will be addressed.
