A commercial vessel heading towards Turkey in the Black Sea was attacked by Russian unmanned aerial vehicles. In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the incident that occurred last night, it was stated that "it has been learned that two of our citizens were lightly injured. The conditions of our citizens working on the ship are being closely monitored by our Consulate General in Odessa."
A drone attack was carried out on a Turkish-owned dry cargo ship sailing from Ukraine's Odesa Port in the Black Sea to Turkey.
In a written statement from the Ministry, it was stated that the Vanuatu-flagged ship was attacked on the night of May 28, and it was noted, 'Two of our citizens among the crew were slightly injured. The situation of our citizens working on the ship is being closely monitored by our Consulate General in Odesa.'
"ESCALATION OF THE WAR SHOULD BE AVOIDED"
In the statement, which drew attention to the risks and threats posed to the region by the recent war-related escalation in the Black Sea, it was emphasized that warnings about possible negative impacts on Turkey have been conveyed to all relevant parties at every level.
The statement noted that steps that could lead to uncontrolled escalation of the war should be avoided, and included the following assessments:
'Our calls for maintaining the navigational safety of civilian ships in the Black Sea and ending the war through negotiations remain valid. We remind relevant parties that we are ready to develop regionally based and result-oriented measures to prevent escalation and accelerate the peace process.'
