As part of the celebrations for the 573rd anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan performed the Friday prayer at the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, and after the prayer, he recited a passage from the Quran to the congregation. The moments when Erdogan, who was met with intense affection from citizens filling the mosque, recited the Quran were recorded moment by moment on mobile phone cameras.

The 573rd anniversary of the glorious Conquest of Istanbul, which closed one era and opened another, changing the course of world history, is being celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the city. While the historical peninsula is the focal point of the official and cultural events that will continue all day, the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque and the tomb of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan have been flooded with visitors.

The Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, one of the most important stops of the conquest celebrations, experienced another historic day. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan entered the Hagia Sophia Mosque to perform the Friday prayer on the occasion of the anniversary of the conquest. After performing the Friday prayer with the congregation, President Erdogan recited the Qur'an inside the mosque. While citizens filling Hagia Sophia showed intense interest in President Erdogan, those moments were recorded second by second by the congregation in the mosque with their mobile phone cameras.

MEMORIAL CEREMONY AT THE TOMB OF FATIH SULTAN MEHMET KHAN

Another address of the conquest enthusiasm was the tomb of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan located in the courtyard of the Fatih Mosque. At the tomb, which was flooded with visitors from the morning hours, an official memorial program was organized under the coordination of the Istanbul Governorship. At the memorial ceremony attended by Istanbul Governor Davut Gul and the city protocol, the Conquest Surah was recited and prayers were offered for the souls of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Khan and the noble martyrs.
