Clubs Union President Ertuğrul Doğan made statements about the foreign player rule, saying 'Nobody is happy with the foreign player rule, we will apply to the TFF.'
Clubs Union President Ertuğrul Doğan made statements to the press after the meeting regarding the highly debated 10+4 foreign player rule.
''NO ONE IS SATISFIED''
Stating that no club is satisfied with the introduced foreign player rule, Ertuğrul Doğan said, "Our clubs have sensitivity regarding the foreign player rule. As of now, no one is satisfied with the foreign rule. Our team will work on this in our WhatsApp group. We will gather the clubs' opinions. There is a decision made by the federation. We respect this decision, but nothing is set in stone."
''WE WILL APPLY TO THE TFF''
Continuing his remarks, Doğan added, "At that time, this might have been appropriate, but now there are justified demands from our clubs. We will share all of these with the federation and seek their assistance on this matter. No one is satisfied with the foreign player rule; we will apply to the TFF."
WHAT IS THE 10+4 FOREIGN PLAYER RULE?
The 10+4 foreign player rule is a new foreign footballer regulation announced by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in May 2026, to be implemented in the Trendyol Süper Lig starting from the 2026-2027 season. This rule maintains the total foreign player quota of 14 that clubs can register in their A Team list but introduces an age criterion for its usage. The details are as follows:
10 PLAYERS WITH NO AGE LIMIT:
Clubs can freely select 10 out of the 14 foreign footballers they will register on the A Team list, without any age limit or criterion (whether 18 or 35 years old).
+4 PLAYERS AGED 23 AND UNDER:
If a club wishes to include more than 10 foreign players in its squad, the remaining maximum of 4 players must be in the young status. These 4 players must be born on or after January 1, 2003 (i.e., aged 23 and under).
