The discovery of the lifeless body of 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş, who went missing in Van and was found 18 days later, with DNA from two different men detected on her body, has reopened discussions about the suicide claims. While calls for justice continue, HÜDA PAR has also demanded the truth to be revealed. Deputy Chairman Şehzade Demir stated, "The delay in justice undermines all trust mechanisms."
After being found dead 18 days after going missing in Van, the 21-year-old university student Rojin Kabaiş was claimed to have committed suicide, but her family strongly opposed these claims.
FORENSIC REPORT: NO MEDICAL EVIDENCE OF SEXUAL ASSAULT
In the forensic report prepared as part of the investigation into Rojin's death, it was noted that there was no medical evidence that the young woman had been subjected to sexual assault, that she died from traumatic effects, and that she had been poisoned. The report also stated that the cause of death was drowning, but it could not be determined whether it was a suicide, an accident, or a murder.
DNA DETECTION FROM TWO DIFFERENT MEN STRENGTHENED SUSPICIONS
However, the same report included information that DNA from two different men was detected in Rojin's chest and vaginal area, which strengthened suspicions that the incident was not a suicide.
Lawyer Zeynep Demir from the Van Bar Association Women's Rights Center stated in her remarks regarding the issue that a perception of suicide was presented to the public from the first day of the incident, saying, "The first DNA sample was found in the sternal, that is, the chest area. The second DNA was found intravaginally, that is, in the inner vaginal area. As of today, we express that the possibility of sexual assault has emerged in the case, and the investigation should be reconsidered in this context."
CALL FROM HÜDA PAR: THE DELAY IN JUSTICE IS DESTROYING ALL TRUST MECHANISMS
While many users on social media called for justice for Rojin's death, a notable statement also came from HÜDA PAR Deputy Chairman and Gaziantep MP Şehzade Demir.
Stating that "the Rojin Kabaiş case has started to spread bad smells," Demir included the following statements in his social media post: "The investigation needs to be reopened, conducted seriously, and the truth needs to be revealed. The allegation that forensic reports are being concealed is very serious. We are all Rojin Kabaiş's family. Revealing the truth has now turned into a societal expectation. The delay in justice is destroying all trust mechanisms."
Demir's statement is as follows;
